Mobile Police Scheduled to Conduct Safety Checkpoints

Mobile Police will be conducting Safety Checkpoints in various parts of Mobile on June 25, 2009. The checkpoints will be conducted during evening hours to ensure citizen safety and that motorists are complying with state and local traffic laws.

Police will be checking seatbelts, child restraints, and other safety features. Officers will also be checking to ensure that drivers are carrying registration, proof of insurance, and drivers’ licenses, as required by law.

    "Safety Checkpoint" is pure BS. They are looking to write tickets, not be safe.

    I guess the police chief is not aware of the 4th amendment.

    City of Indianapolis v. Edmond, 531 U. S. 32 (2000), the Supreme Court of the United States held that checkpoints were unconstitutional.
